If everybody has a microphone who is listening?

Simon and Garfunkel called it in 1964: people talking without speaking, people hearing without listening.

Everyone is drowning in messaging. Everybody's an influencer. Everybody's a podcaster. The comment sections are chaos. Opinion dwells more space than news. When everyone has a microphone, there's no audience. Just millions of people yelling at each other, so nobody hears anything. AI is not helping either. It is actually making it harder to discern the difference between real and fake.

Except Radio.

Radio is the original master of the microphone. You still decide. You still say no. You still curate. Someone stands behind every voice that goes out over your frequency. That's why radio still has listeners instead of just other noise. That’s why Radio still holds its position as the “Trusted Medium.”

Radio delivers an actual audience. Not followers. Not impressions. Actual listeners. That's why advertisers still trust radio. That's why it works. No medium capitalizes on the power of sound better than Radio. Period!

Everyone else traded their audience for reach. They opened the microphone to everyone and watched their mass audience vanish. Radio didn't. Radio is the only medium left standing with loyal listeners. Radio is also smart enough to evolve and embrace podcast, streaming, digital and grassroot events for additional revenue. But, at its core, Radio is just that; Radio!

As sellers you can never lose sight of that unique advantage. Your power isn't in chasing volume. Your power is in selling what matters. In proving that gatekeeping still creates value. You are not selling just another advertising channel. You are selling genuine power!

If there are five pitch decks sitting on a prospect’s desk from five different mediums Radio should be their first choice. Not last. Show the decision maker the power you are selling. Not with data alone. But with your confidence. Radio always delivers when used as directed. You have the directions.

The word “trust” is an overused and over-abused word in advertising. But in the media landscape only one platform delivers on it; Radio! Hold that. It's everything. Now go ahead, pass that power onto your clients and you will quickly discover that your faith in this power will resonate so much more with business owners than ratings, presentations, costs and schedules. Business owners don't want more metrics. They want proof their message actually lands.

Onward!
